7.15 Chelmsford: Rogue Allegiance

The handicapper has been very generous in dropping this lightly-raced horse 3lb for his run last time out. I would have just put a line through that effort as his chance was basically gone after he was hampered at the start.
He has earned a mark in the 80s courtesy of a six-length win on debut at Newcastle last December. That race has produced winners this season and, if he is back on track, then he should be able to win races this autumn and winter.
There is going to be a real pace battle in this race, which looks to be full of front-running sprinters. That could easily set this up for a closer who might need every bit of this trip.

7.45 Chelmsford: Mart

Mart runs off a 2lb lower mark than when he finished second at Lingfield recently and has his best chance to score before his mark goes back up next week.
That good effort marked a return to form after three disappointing efforts in the summer and off a mark 2lb lower than he won off at Lingfield in May.
He won off a mark of 75, so he is seriously well-handicapped and his latest two wins have come under claiming apprentices, so the booking of Toby Moore claiming a valuable 7lb is also eye-catching. Mart won’t have a better chance than this for a while.

8.15 Chelmsford: Bintazzo

Bintazzo was a £300k yearling and shouldn’t be racing off a mark of 62, and hopefully has a good chance of landing a first victory here before progressing up the ranks.
After three runs for a handicap mark, Roger Varian’s filly was backed into 6-4 favourite for her handicap debut last time out despite being stepped up four furlongs in trip.
It looked as though the distance beat her, as she travelled well in behind for most of the race, but her effort petered out when asked to challenge in the final quarter.
This ten-furlong trip is in keeping with her close relatives and looks a sound move to drop her down to. It is quite possible she could be in a different class to most of these exposed types and confidence in the market would be interesting once more.
