Thurles report: Festival an option for Go Another One after Grade Three success

Go Another One gave his rivals weight and a beating in the BetVictor Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle at Thurles.
Won by subsequent Cheltenham Festival victor Blow By Blow 12 months ago, the Grade Three contest attracted a small but select field.
Sent off the outsider of six, Go Another One was nevertheless only a 6-1 chance, giving an indication of how little there was between the runners.
Harrie – sent off the 9-4 favourite in the hands of Ruby Walsh – took a crashing fall just after halfway, which meant three Gigginstown House Stud runners, Denwork, Dream Conti and Notebook, were left in front.
Robbie Power was content to bide his time on John McConnell’s charge, though, and when a small gap appeared on the rail he had enough horse to nip through it.
A safe jump over the last sealed the deal as he pulled two and three-quarter lengths clear of Notebook.
“It was a great ride I thought because there was a lot of pace in it and he just took his time,” said McConnell.
“I wasn’t sure going right-handed would suit him, but he didn’t mind it today. He is in at Cheltenham and we’ll talk about it, or he could go to Aintree.
“I’m just glad I declared him as I wasn’t declaring him at 9am yesterday. But we said we’d take our chance here with just six runners – he could have run in Ayr on Monday instead.”
He added: “He has been a great horse for me, he has never been out of the money for me and I wish I had plenty of them!
“I’ve had a Grade Three winner of a juvenile hurdle about 12 years ago, but this is my biggest winner.”
