Danny Archer is joined by Dan Overall and Ash Symonds in the latest episode of The Formbook to look ahead to the Christmas Meeting at Jump racing's HQ this week, all of which will be shown live on Racing TV.
The feature event is, of course, the December Gold Cup on Saturday, with Dan and Ash both keen on the chances of the same contender in that £125,000 contest.
Our top team have plenty of selections across both days, and Dan is particularly sweet one on in the finale on Saturday (and Ash agrees with him!).
Dan Overall says: "Siog Geal appeals as the best handicapped horse in the race, and I thought by some distance. Jubilee Alpha is the class angle, but Siog Geal has just improved since finishing behind her at Windsor last year, and won the BetVictor British EBF "National Hunt" Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Newbury on her final start last season.
"She only won by half a length there, but I think that underestimated how much she was the best horse in the race that day. She would have given her supporters a few scares, but she was always doing enough, and the runner-up, La Pinsonniere, finished a close second behind Jubilee Alpha next time out.
"Most of the contenders in the Carlisle race Siog Geal contested last time out were using it as a stepping stone to future targets, and Siog Geal has only been raised a pound for that plus should improve massively. All of her form is just so solid, and a rating of 123 surely still underestimates her."
A 20-1 chance is also among Dan's picks! We hope you enjoy the show, and please feel free to comment with any views of fancies you have across Friday and Saturday.
