Andy Stephens, armed with the RaceiQ data, marks your card for day four at the Royal Meeting.
✅ 3.05 ROYAL ASCOT: VENETIAN SUN
Form over 5f or 6f: 11111
Highest Speed: 42.24mph. Final 2f at Haydock: 24.32sec (easily best)
All of Venetian Sun’s RaceiQ numbers add up to her being very hard to beat in the Commonwealth Cup.
Her two-year-old form, including a win in the Albany Stakes, stands close inspection and she glided to an emphatic victory in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last time when cruising through the final two furlongs in 24.32 seconds. Nothing else could get near that.
✅ 4.20 ROYAL ASCOT: PRECISE
Precise and Venetian Sun are hot favourites for the feature races at Royal Ascot today and their data suggests they will both deliver.
The Coronation Stakes (4.20) looks at the mercy of Precise after her scintillating win in the Irish 1000 Guineas last time when she surged through the last two furlongs in 23.21 seconds.
That was at least half a second quicker than any of her rivals and the fourth time in her past five starts that she’s had the highest Finishing Speed Percentage.
❌ 5.35 ROYAL ASCOT: WATER TO WINE
Time Indexes: about par
First 4f at Kempton: all slow. Fastest Furlong: 11.64sec
Water To Wine is going to be a hot favourite for the King Edward VII Stakes after wide margin wins at Newbury and Kempton but could be one to take on.
He’s not achieved anything special on the clock and now takes on much better opposition, including Causeway, who arrives on a roll and got a Time Index of 9.9 when scoring at The Curragh last time, when the meeting average was 7.9.
✅ 6.10 ROYAL ASCOT: JAZL
Highest Speed: 43.49mph
Latest 0-20mph: 2.15sec. Latest Time Index: 9.9 (meeting ave 7.7)
Jazl is a son of No Nay Never, the 2013 Norfolk winner, and looks a chip off the old block.
He has been an emphatic winner over six furlongs at Windsor and Leicester this season, but has exhibited a stack of speed and this stiff five furlongs should suit him just as well. He got a Time Index of 9.9 last time, zooming through the final two furlongs in 23.13 seconds.
