Connections of Solow are hopeful the brilliant miler will be back in action before the end of May.The Freddy Head-trained seven-year-old enjoyed a spectacular campaign in 2015, claiming Group One victories in the Dubai Turf at Meydan, the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp, the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and the QEII back at Ascot on Champions Day.However, he made just one appearance last season, winning a minor conditions event on the Polytrack at Chantilly in early March, and has not been seen since.Pierre-Yves Bureau, racing manager for owners the Wertheimer brothers, said: " Solow has been in training since the middle of December and so far he has taken every step very well. "Soon he will begin more serious work. We are very cautious as he was out of training for a long time, but at the moment we are very pleased and hopefully we will see him again in the coming months."The good thing about him being away for a year is we can find races for him and if everything goes well, I hope we will see him run in May."Asked whether a Royal Ascot return could be on Solow's agenda, Bureau added: " That would be perfect, of course, and for sure it is some place in our minds, but time will tell. "The horse will tell Freddy when he is ready."
