Angus McNae's Sunday tips: "I am not put off him not having run since January"

Poncho won this race last year off a mark of 69 and can go in again off just a 1lb higher rating. He also finished second in this race two years ago. He has been lightly raced since then, perhaps because he was last seen when falling at Sandown over hurdles. When he won this last year he came off a four month lay - off so I am not put off him not having run since January. If he is on his best behaviour he should go well. 

Bengal tiger posted a smart speed figure when finishing second to Salt Lake a this track last time out and a repeat of that will see him in the winners enclosure. Salt Lake has franked the form with a narrow defeat in a Listed contest at Dundalk and Bengal Tiger made his debut at the Curragh which has since thrown up three winners, he can become the fourth. 

Percy's Star has improved since blinkers were fitted two starts ago and his fast time win at Goodwood last time out suggests that he may still be well handicapped off a mark of 76. There is plenty of pace guaranteed here as there was when he won last time out and Silvestre De Sousa who excels on sprinters can guide him to success again. 

Beset was a ready winner of a Listed contest at Galway last time out and having had a month to recover from those exertions she comes here a relatively fresh horse and can win again. She has been tried in better company but has a tremendous record at Listed level and this trip of 12 furlongs brings out the best in her. She can win this for Joseph O Brien who also won this race in 2023.
