Angus McNae reveals his best four bets on a fine afternoon of sport. Watch every single race from the Curragh, Cork, Carlisle and Huntingdon live and exclusive on Racing TV!
1.33 Huntingdon: Westerton
Despite an underwhelming start to his hurdling career at Stratford, Westerton is worth persevering with.
He is a useful horse on the Flat who has form in the mid 90s. He stayed 10 furlongs on the Flat and a sharp two miles here should suit him.
He does need to brush up his jumping from his debut, but Alan King is happy to persevere.
Westerton is worth another chance.
2.10 Cork: The Enabler
Gordon Elliott is in good form and has started to introduce some of his better horses in the last few days.
The Enabler looks as if he will be suited by the big step up in trip that he faces.
He won a couple of bumpers last season and then ran well on his hurdling debut, finishing second to a horse with more speed over two miles.
He was readily outpaced built should be much more at home faced with this test of stamina.
3.00 Curragh: Dawn Rising
Dawn Rising travelled like the best horse in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket where he finished a creditable fifth.
He has useful Flat form to his name, being a winner of the Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot in 2023.
He is clearly in good heart and this is a decent opportunity to obtain black type at a track where he goes well.
3.15 Cork: Stuzzikini
The Cork Grand National can go to Gordon Elliott and Stuzzikini, who will be suited by stepping up in trip to three and a half miles.
He was an excellent third at Galway last time out where he seemed inconvenienced by the two-and-three-quarter-mile trip.
He has to give weight away all round, but comes here in good form and looks sure to relish the trip.
