Top presenter Angus McNae marks your card for the second day of the Irish Champions Festival plus shares his best bet at Musselburgh.
2.40 Curragh: Beautify
Angus McNae
Finished: 2ndSP: 9/1
This filly may be the perceived second string for Aidan O’Brien, but she has a better chance than her odds suggest after her win over six furlongs at the Curragh last time out, when she clocked a fast time.
She comprehensively defeated Lady Iman in the style of a filly who will relish this step up to seven furlongs.
Beautify hit the line very strongly and I can see her making the running here and being hard to pass.
3.50 Curragh: Saba Desert
Angus McNae
Finished: 6thSP: 6/1
Charlie Appleby won this in 2021 with Native Trail and can do so again with this exciting son of Dubawi.
He is unbeaten in two starts and overcame inexperience when winning the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.
He is sure to take another step forward from that, which will make him more than competitive against the Ballydoyle battalion.

4.33 Musselburgh: Montezuma
Angus McNae
Finished: 2ndSP: 6/4
This is just the type of progressive sort that Jim Goldie does well with and he will benefit from the handling of Paul Mulrennan.
On his latest start at Windsor, he made his move too soon, having been keen, and paid for that in the closing stages.
He has had just four starts for Goldie since leaving Charlie Appleby and is on an upward trajectory.
5.00 Curragh: Tarima
Angus McNae
Finished: 4thSP: 12/1
This filly has featured twice on the Verdict this season, when she won on debut at Leopardstown and last time out at Gowran where she got a terrible trip but deserved a sectional upgrade for a big mid-race move from the middle of the pack.
That run came after a four month lay-off and she looks sure to reverse Gowran form with Naomi Lapaglia. She can land this Group Three for her in-form trainer.
