'Sore' Davy Russell stood down at Down Royal

Davy Russell was stood down for the rest of the meeting at Down Royal following a fall from No Dice in the opening race.The Gold Cup-winning rider was reported to be "sore" after the tumble at the fourth-last fence when leading on the Tony Martin-trained 2-1 favourite in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Novice Chase.As a result, Russell, who won the Grade One Arkle Novice Chase on Some Plan at Leopardstown on Sunday, was forced miss his remaining three rides on the card.
