Harry Skelton is hoping he can crown his likely sucess in the
with a big run in Saturday's Randox
when he partners
Threeundethrufive for Paul Nicholls.
Skelton heads into the final two days of the competition with a commanding 74-point lead over Harry Cobden and Nico de Boinville, who will be battling it out for second place prize-money of £200,000 on the first two days of Aintree's Grand National meeting.
"We’ve got a great lead going into the last two days of the David Power Cup," he told
. "Hopefully now we can hold on until the end and it will be a great relief to get over the line. It’s been an unbelievable opportunity for National Hunt jockeys this season to pick up some fantastic prize money. We’ve had a great run of things in the ITV races and we’re not far away now."
As for the world's most famous jumps race, Skelton continued "Threeunderthrufive is a great spare to pick up. He’s been placed over marathon trips before, including when fourth in the Scottish National two years ago, so it looks like he stays.
"He jumps well, and has been running very consistently this season. I had a sit on him last week and he feels in good shape. Paul [Nicholls] has kept him fresh so he looks to tick a lot of boxes and hopefully he can give me a good ride round.
"The atmosphere is always electric around Aintree. It’s great to be involved in the National and a privilege to be riding in the race."
