Top tipster Dave Nevison has four selections on Saturday, three of which are at York. Watch all the action on the Knavesmire and at Cartmel, plus the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas, live on Racing TV.
1.30 York: Lord Roxby
Lord Roxby’s two runs this season can easily be dismissed. He didn't stay on his reappearance and then when returned to this trip last time, he was way out at Ascot and had no chance.
He is drawn sufficiently low in this big field to suggest he might be on the favoured side in a race that looks set to be run at a very fast pace which should suit.
Trainer Nigel Tinkler has had two winners this week and this sprinter has dropped to below the mark he finished an excellent second off in a similar big field at Newmarket, so he is well enough in to go well once more. Ethan Tindall takes off a handy 5lb.
2.10 Cartmel: Tour Ovalie
This mare proved to be outclassed when I backed her last time at Sandown, but even though she ultimately finished last, I wasn’t totally despondent as, very briefly, she looked like moving into contention before fading.
She is off a 2lb lower mark and back down considerably in grade here as well as racing against females, so the Williams-trained runner should find this a lot easier.
Tour Ovalie has won plenty of races and though there are several runners in the race who look likely to get strong market support I feel the six-year-old could be value to get into the frame.

2.40 York: Fortification
Fortification has been through the sales ring three times at varying prices up to £350,000, but it definitely looks as though Brian Ellison’s connections have got the best value having picked him up for £27,000 before his stable debut.
Fortification won over this course and distance, and showed his best form to date by some way, so has clearly settled in well in his new yard.
He is a three-year-old who looks likely to have more improvement in him than some of the established older sprinter he is up against here. He has only been raised 5lbs for that latest win and is well enough drawn again for this follow up attempt.
5.00 York: Signcastle City
Signcastle City tends to come good at this time of year and was placed off marks in the mid 80s in early summer last year.
He is down to a mark of 73 this afternoon and signalled that his turn may be coming around soon with excellent efforts at Bath and Lingfield on his most recent starts.
Those runs were over a mile and he is dropped down to seven furlongs this afternoon, which is the distance of his most recent start. Richard Hannon won this corresponding event last season and looks to have another that can at least get into the frame.
