Tipstar champion Katie Midwinter is back to mark your card for Saturday's action at and . Watch every from both fixtures live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.
2.00 York: Blue For You
A winner of the race last year when rated 4lb higher, Blue For You must return to form following two disappointing efforts, but has enough ability to bounce back and make the frame, at least.
The ground-versatile contender will be suited by the trip, and has regular partner Danny Tudhope aboard, a jockey who has ridden plenty of winners for the yard this term and is performing at a 20 per cent strike-rate at the track this year.
On a handy mark of 95, it may be worth sticking with this proven runner who often performs well on the Knavesmire.
2.35 York: Starlust
He's the highest-rated in the field, but receives weight from his older rivals as he drops in class following an eighth-placed finish in the Commonwealth Cup.
First-time blinkers were tried at Ascot but are now removed as he attempts to return to the form shown when winning over course and distance on his penultimate start.
The drop back to 5f should see him to better effect considering perhaps the best performance of his career to date came when third to Big Evs in the Group One Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
There have been three three-year-old winners of the race in the past eight renewals, and this youngster has enough ability to make a bold bid for victory on Saturday.
3.10 York: Haunted Dream
The likable grey remains on a mark of 104 after finishing a staying-on second in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot. It’s a mark from which he was able to be competitive at Epsom last month, finishing less than two lengths behind Bolster, and doing extremely well in the circumstances.
He stumbled when leaving the stalls there, with jockey James Doyle doing well to retain the partnership, and he showed a good attitude to recover and perform as well as he did.
That bodes well for his chances on this mark once again, and the slight ease in the ground will be to his liking.
5.10 Newmarket: Thundering
This five-year-old gelding returned to some form when finishing third at Carlisle recently, and is only 2lb higher now on a mark of 80.
It’s a rating from which he can be competitive off, and the step back up in trip will suit. Representing Kevin Ryan, with Tom Eaves in the saddle, Thundering holds strong each-way claims, and can make his presence felt in the finale of the three-day July Festival.
