Our betting expert was on the mark with Magic Saint at Cheltenham yesterday and has four fancies for day two of The November Meeting
12.30 Cheltenham: Hell Red at a general Evens
This is by far the best juvenile hurdle run this season and is a race that often brings together young horses who have been rattling up sequences early doors.
Duffle Coat, trained by Gordon Elliott, is an above average juvenile winning all three of his starts. However he has to concede 5lb to this field and I was perhaps more impressed by Hell Red’s British debut at the Chepstow meeting last month that Nicholls usually unleashes some of his best.
Hell Red looked experienced beyond his one run and jumped particularly well before winning 12 lengths.
Only one horse, beaten 20 lengths, has come out of the race and he won his next start so the form must be strong. I expect to see whatever wins this become favourite for Triumph Hurdle and hopefully it will be Hell Red.
1.05 Cheltenham: What A Moment at 7-1 with William Hill
Has won this race twice in the past and is 12lb lower than when he last won it.
His jockey has partnered a horse placed in the Kim Muir plus won the National Hunt Chase here , so is great value for the 7lb he claims. His trainer is also in fine form, so there are numerous positives.
The big negative is that he has not really played a part in a race for some time and may simply have lost interest in the game but at with headgear reapplied after his comeback run I am happy to take a chance on him at the odds on offer. I will probably go win only as I think he will either score easily or not figure.
2.15 Cheltenham: Slate House at a general 10-1

14:25 Cheltenham - Saturday November 16
Would he, or wouldn't he? Dave reckons Slate House was an unlucky loser last year
Has never won after December and was disappointing on his final two starts of last season but I reckon he would have won this race had he not fallen and I am sure he will be absolutely spot on in his attempt to make amends this term.
He may be felt to be an underachiever because of his record at the Festival but on occasions he has looked brilliant and in the most competitive handicap run so far this season I will give him another chance.
He is only 5lb higher than 12 months ago, and would have gone up substantially if he hadn’t fallen. He won a Grade One at Kempton afterwards, so could easily be well-handicapped for this.
2.50 Cheltenham: Good Man Pat at 22-1 with BetVictor and William Hill
To my eyes he has made a mistake at crucial times over fences in several of his runs and as a consequence not really got to where he might, so I think it is a good move to give him a spell back over hurdles and hopefully he will run well at a price here.
His reappearance effort here, over a slightly shorter trip, was promising enough and from a yard in form and off a mark lower than his chase rating he is worth a small interest.
