Melbourne Cup winner Robbie Dolan to return to The Curragh

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Robbie Dolan is set to return to Ireland for a special visit to the Curragh Racecourse at the meeting on August 16, reconnecting with his Kildare upbringing and sharing his remarkable journey from local tracks to international stardom.

Born and raised in County Kildare, Robbie Dolan’s passion for horse racing was ignited in the heartland of Irish racing when, while mulling the possibility of an office job, a teacher suggested he consider the Racing Academy and Centre of Excellence (RACE) in Kildare Town. 

His early years around the lush green landscapes of the Curragh, steeped in centuries of equestrian tradition, shaped a career that would take him all the way to Australia’s most coveted racing prize — the Lexus Melbourne Cup.

Dolan's return to The Curragh is a full-circle moment, allowing him to reconnect with his roots and share his remarkable journey with the Irish racing community. His story serves as an inspiration to aspiring jockeys and a reminder of the enduring legacy of Irish horsemanship.
