Richard Hoiles' top tips for Tuesday: Make most of Human Nature

Having written a couple of years ago about bookmakers using increasingly outlandish offers to new account holders, only to severely restrict or close any of those that set any of their computer flags waving, the announcement that Bet Victor are to be the first to offer a guaranteed on-line liability of £500 after 11am each day is a welcome step forward.
The trend had begun with other firms offering similar in shop guarantees so it is reasonable to assume that others will follow Bet Victor’s lead.
That will be crucial as punter behaviour will be crucial if this is to mark a sea change in thinking. Restricted accounts can lead to a convoluted game of cat and mouse involving dummy accounts as the desired amount has to be spread thinly.
If all major firms were prepared to match the on-line amounts announced by Bet Victor whilst maintaining reasonable margins then such subterfuge would be unnecessary and if still undertaken and proven could legitimately result in the guarantee being withdrawn.
It is highly likely that the announcement of the future FOBT stake restriction to £2 has focused bookmaker’s minds into making these changes but whatever the motivation they should be welcomed nonetheless.
Today’s selections:
2.40 Brighton: Zoffany Bay
Has run solidly in defeat the last twice and this looks a race that will take little winning. The yard is going well and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa who only rides rarely for the stable (2 winners from 6 rides) looks potentially significant.
3.00 Kempton: Progressive Dawn
Hit the line strongly when winning over CD last time stepping up markedly on his debut at Yarmouth where he showed his inexperience in the early stages. There are several good yards represented which should help the price.
6.20 Yarmouth: Lunar Deity
Only raised 1lb by the handicapper for his narrow win in a three cornered finish at Yarmouth just under a fortnight ago he still looks well enough treated considering his largely consistent form this season and goes well for Milly Naseb.
7.20 Yarmouth: Human Nature
Also trained by Stuart Williams a likely strong gallop here could be the key with Jamie Spencer taking over the ride. With three potential pace influences in the race courtesy of Majestic Moon, Colonel Frank and Garth Rockett this could be set up ideally for the sort of patient approach at which Spencer can excel.
