Katate Dori has been installed as 4-1 favourite by the sponsors as he attempts to emulate Docklands Express in winning back-to-back renewals of the Ladbrokes Trophy at Kempton.
Back in 1992 Kim Bailey’s Docklands Express defied 11st 10lb but the Sam Thomas-trained Katate Dori is below the halfway line of the 16 confirmations.
The race is one major handicap in the UK which the Irish-trained horses have struggled to land a blow in, with Ted Walsh’s Commance Court coming closest in 2001 when second to Young Spartacus.
Emmet Mullins intends to have two runners, though, with Chance Another One and Rising Dust.
“Chance Another One won in Kempton before Christmas and he’ll go back, and Rising Dust has won five of his last six,” said Mullins.
“I don’t know where his ceiling is, but he’s still going the right way.
“They’re two good ground horses and it’s a great pot. They’ll both be competitive on nice ground, that’s what they’re crying out for.”
Dan Skelton’s Boombawn is at the top of the weights with the likes of Henry’s Friend, Soul Icon, Blueking d’Oroux and Deep Cave in behind.
The Doyen Chief, Lookaway, Hoe Joly Smoke and Leader In The Park are also there.
There are nine in the Ladbrokes Adonis Juvenile Hurdle including Skelton’s Precious Man and the Nicky Henderson duo of Fantasy World, a smart horse on the Flat, and Mustang du Breuil.
Lucy Wadham’s Jax Junior is one of eight in the Ladbrokes Pendil Novices’ Chase while the Ladbrokes Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle has attracted 15.
