Episode Three of the new Racing TV Podcast is here! This week, Nick Luck joins Dan Barber and Martin Dixon as they reflect on last week's Royal Ascot. The trio unpick the big races, star performances and where the leading horses may head next.
Top of the agenda is Scandinavia's thrilling Gold Cup win over Trawlerman, which took Aidan O'Brien to 100 Royal Ascot winners and a record-extending tenth victory in the race. Whilst the spotlight is also put on Ombudsman, who recorded back-to-back wins in the Prince of Wales's Stakes.
Dan, Martin and Nick also sing the praises of Night Of Thunder, after a sensational run of results for the sire at the meeting, plus highlight a number of horses to follow and are worth backing next time out.
Nick Luck opens by saying: "Victorious I thought was easily the best two-year-old in the week.
"I know Clive Cox's horse in the Norfolk was very impressive and I did like Libertango as well, but I thought generally speaking the fillies were better than the colts, and I thought Victorious was superb.
"And given her physique and pedigree, it's just impossible she's not going to get better and better and better, and I could see her winning the Guineas next year.
Martin Dixon was also impressed with Wesley Ward's Palace of Holyrood House winner Bacio, saying: "In terms of performance, it was a brazen show of speed and a very good one and he'd take a bit of catching in the Nunthorpe.
"We don't know his ceiling, but he is absolutely rapid and would be tailor made for York. There were still some very good horses form high draws in that race that couldn't get anywhere near him."
