A competitive card of All-Weather action at Kempton Park on Monday has the potential to yield a nice dividend return for those who can negotiate the six-leg pool by picking a placed runner in each of the first six races.
Below you will find some useful stats, hints, tips and a suggested Tote Placepot perm ahead of the card, which kicks off at 1.25pm.
How’s the going?
As is always now the case at Kempton Park, the surface is described as Standard to Slow. There is a little rain promised on Monday, but it’s unlikely to dampen little more than a few spirits and won’t affect the racing.
The Big Trend
MARK JOHNSTON has trained 17 winners from his 83 runners at Kempton Park in 2020, operating a solid 20% strike. More notable is the +£50.78 profit to £1 level stakes at SP with the same runners and the Middleham handler has a trio of runners at the track on Monday:
Leg 1 - 1:25 - My Girl Maggie
Leg 2 - 1:55 - Tellmeyourstory
Leg 4 - 3:00 - Ventura Kingdom
Placepot Banker
SHARLA (Leg 3, 2.30pm) went off at odds of 40/1 when making her racecourse debut for trainer Roger Teal here a fortnight ago. The Outstrip filly definitely out-performed market expectations by running an excellent race to finish third, recording a useful time in defeat behind a good winner.
She looks capable of producing an improved effort second time up and top notch rider Rossa Ryan maintains the partnership.
Outsiders to Consider
MUNIFICENT (Leg 4, 3.00pm) has only finished sixth and seventh on his pair of career outings thus far, which doesn’t make the most appeal on paper. But behind those form figures were a couple of reasonable promising efforts and Paul & Oliver Cole’s charge could run into a place at nice prices
MY LAW (Leg 5, 3.30pm) runs for good trainer Jonathan Portman and has a talented 5lb claimer on board. The horse will be a big price here but comes out well on average speed figures and isn’t too badly handicapped.
Torpedo Leg
The Leg 2 maiden at 1.55pm has five horses on paper with a chance to win and hit the frame here. Any three-way combination of the five could hit the placings, so it makes some sense to have two horses on side.
VANITAS has finished second at Chelmsford and Lingfield so far and could easily fill a similar spot here if handling the track. DAMNED ELUSIVE is likely to be seen to best effect in time, but she could have what it takes to hit the frame too.
