Nicky Richards is still eyeing the Coral Scottish
Grand National for Looking Well despite a disappointing performance in the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster on Saturday.
The Greystoke trainer's concerns about the soft ground proved right as the eight-year-old struggled in the conditions and was last of the six finishers behind the impressive Definitly Red.
Richards has not lost faith in Looking Well, who had showed his true colours when a staying on second in the Sky Bet Chase on the same course on his previous start, and he will prepare the horse for the Ayr marathon on April 22.
"He didn't handle the ground. We were very concerned about it before. He definitely wants a bit of decent ground," said Richards.
"He'll go for the Scottish National. Why not? We still like the horse."
