Nicky Mackay taken to hospital following Chelmsford fall

Jockey Nicky Mackay was taken to hospital following a fall at Chelmsford on Thursday evening.Mackay was riding the odds-on favourite Royalistic in the UB40 Here On 12th August Maiden Stakes and still held every chance entering the final two furlongs.Inexplicably his mount hung badly right, crashing through the rails and unseating Mackay.Clerk of the course Andy Waitt said: "All we can say at the moment is that Nicky is conscious."He has been taken to Broomfield Hospital in Essex for further assessment."
