Newbury round-up: Brorocco swoops to collect valuable Newbury handicap

Brorocco made up for an unlucky York defeat when producing a power-packed finish to claim top honours in the Dubai Duty Free Handicap at Newbury.
The Andrew Balding-trained four-year-old made it win number two for the campaign when getting a dream run down the outside of the field to land the mile-and-a-quarter contest.
Making good late headway from the back of the field, the 8-1 co-favourite gradually wore down those in front before hitting the front deep inside the final furlong and passing the post a length clear of Fidaawy.
Balding said: "We always had the Cambridgeshire in mind, but it didn't look like he was going to get in it. This was not a bad replacement fixture for it.
"We will think about running in the Cambridgeshire as he might get in it with a penalty. We will probably confirm him for it on Monday, but he doesn't want it too soft. It will be that or the end of the year for him.
"It helps when they go a good gallop, which they do in these big field handicaps. He got his run today which he hasn't a couple of times in the past."
Fennaan put his previous experience to good use in the first division of the Wedgewood Estates EBF Novice Stakes.
After finishing a promising fifth on his debut at Kempton earlier this month, the John Gosden-trained two-year-old stepped up on that effort to claim the seven-furlong contest.
Pressing on together with newcomer Alfarqad just outside the furlong pole, the son of Footstepsinthesand soon moved on before holding fast-finishing favourite Sam Gold by a head.
Joint-owner Khalid Al Mudhaf said: "We were hopeful before the race. On his debut on the all-weather, he was very green which was obvious in the race as he made eyecatching headway to finish fifth.
"He learnt a lot from that but you never know what will happen in an end-of-season maiden like this. I am sure the second and third are very good horses.
"He seems a scopey horse and he will be better as a three-year-old. We might just put him away."
Emaraaty paid back a small slice of the 2.6 million guineas laid out for him with an authoritative success in the second division.
The 4-9 favourite barely had to come out of second gear to build on his debut fourth at Sandown and claim top honours by two and a half lengths.
Paddy Power trimmed the winner, who completed a quickfire across-the-card treble for Gosden, from 40-1 into 33-1 for next year's Qipco 2000 Guineas.
Gosden said: "He got a bump leaving the gate and that slightly set him alight. Jim (Crowley) thought he would let him use his stride and he relaxed well in front and picked up well.
"He had an interesting first race. The first race didn't go well, but this one was fine. He is a very promising horse costing all that money and he has a bit of class about him.
"We will see if he runs again this year or whether we wait for the spring. He certainly has a lot of natural speed."
