New Year's Eve tips: Dave Nevison has three bets

Was having his first run for five months and his first for Dan Skelton when beaten just ¾ of a length at Exeter last time out. 

A wind operation has clearly done him no harm and he and certainly would not be the first to improve for joining this yard. 

He won’t ever reach the heights of his half-brother, Constitution Hill, but a mark of 109 gives him plenty of opportunity to win races especially now he is stepped to more than 2m. 

Going conditions suit perfectly and, provided he doesn’t bounce, he looks set to win. 

There was nothing fishy about Pescatorious winning at Catterick three days ago and Harriet Dickin’s five-year-old can cap a fruitful Twixtmas. 

He had dropped to a basement mark after unsuccessful runs over longer trips but the switch to the minimum trip and a change to front running tactics suited him very well and he won comfortably, having been well backed to do so in a very similar grade race. 

He's got 7lb more to carry but that wouldn’t have stopped him last time and it is purely a matter of whether he is over his Catterick exertions. 

The Parkinson/Smith partnership have hit good form over the Christmas period, carrying on the tradition of the yard going well in the depths of winter. 

Taras Hall may be more exposed than some of the runners in this race but doesn’t have to improve to go close and might represent value here. 

He has run well enough in two chases and if he continues to improve his jumping, then a place looks the least he can achieve.
