The hard yards covered on the 'away' meetings during Royal Ascot were rewarded on this page in the past week. InvincibleCrown and Weekend Roar entered the Naughton Notebook when the world was watching events unfold in Berkshire and won at 4-1 & 11-4 in the past few days.
The former added to funds (4-1) in the 5f handicap at Musselburgh on Tuesday. Ruth Carr's speedy four-year-old enjoyed a welcome change of fortune when leading on the post. Towards rear, he made headway two-out but was repeatedly denied from over a furlong out. Jimmy Sullivan's mount ran on strongly when in the clear and such was the jockey's confidence, he let his mount coast in the last strides.
Invincible Crown loves passing horse, so remains a hostage to fortune but the assessor has trouble catching him after narrow victories.

I wrote here last month:
Invincible Crown endured a wretched passage when a fast-finishing close fourth in the 5f handicap at Thirsk on Tuesday.
William Pyle's mount was hampered at the start and switched right in rear two-out.
Hampered against the stands' rail, Invincible Crown switched left and ran on strongly inside the final furlong.
He would surely have won with better luck and deserves a change of fortune having reared at the stalls over course and distance last time.
Back to last week, notebook horse Weekend Roar did us a big favour (11-4) in the 6f novice at Newmarket on Thursday. Hugo Palmer's classy son of Supremacy was prominent early and led over two-out. Challenged by well fancied Etienne and Mysterious Times, the winner did just enough, despite drifting left. Connections have a good record in the valuable sales race at York's Ebor meeting, so Weekend Roar could produce a midweek roar on Thursday 20th August.

At Salisbury, Weekend Roar ran into very smart winner Sonny Parvenue in the 6f novice.
Hugo Palmer's quality son of Supremacy made headway from midfield inside the final furlong and kept on well towards the finish.
The winner holds entries at Group One level but Weekend Roar has plenty of talent too.
Bought for £105,000 as a yearling, the classy colt is a half-brother to Listed winner Room Service.
At Carlisle last Wednesday, Wine Dark Sea couldn't have been more impressive for the notebook when breaking the 1m3f course record and landing a gamble in the Cumberland Plate.
Harry Charlton's highly progressive four-year-old sat behind the leaders and eased to the front two-out.
He needed only to be pushed out to go clear for an easy success.
A step up in class awaits.
Wine Dark Sea beat subsequent Duke Of Edinburgh winner Opportunity two outings ago.
He also beat subsequent Copper Horse Handicap winner Daiquiri Bay the time before..
I wrote in the second edition of the Naughton Notebook in mid-May:
Wine Dark Sea confirmed himself very progressive when winning the 1m4f handicap at Ascot on Saturday.
Harry Charlton's classy four-year-old was never far off the pace and made headway to lead two-out.
The well bred son of Ulysses was ridden clear and kept on well with the promise of more to come.
Wine Dark Sea improve.

On Tuesday, Thunder Wonder could be marked up after his close third to improving three-year-old Haayimm in the 1m1f handicap at Musselburgh. Charlie Johnston's capable four-year-old dwelt at the start but made headway from rear on the outer two-out.
He did well in the circumstances and can build on this return from two months off.
The previous day, Sovereign High made a very pleasing start when a close third in the 6f maiden at Kempton. Ralph Beckett's son of Ten Sovereigns was towards rear but made headway from over two-out and went third in the last one hundred yards. Sovereign High was a 7,500 euros yearling but a £50,000 breeze-up buy.
The dam is a half-sister to Group Two 1m6f winner Silk Sari and out of a half-sister to Group One 1m two-year-old winner Ibn Khaldun.
Expect progress when up in trip.
On Sunday, Sindria ran a mighty race at big odds when stepped up to 1m2f in the Group Three Dubai Duty Free International Stakes at the Curragh.
Joseph O'Brien's quality four-year-old, was sent off at 25-1 having been 66-1 in the morning and set steady fractions.
Headed over two-out, he rallied and was beaten only three-lengths by Purview, who has Breeders' Cup aspirations.
Sindria deserves enormous credit having received only 3lb from the winner, who is rated 18lb superior.
A Listed winner at Gowran Park last season, the son of Postponed ran well in the Group Two Lanwades Stud Stakes here last time.
Who's Lope was narrowly denied by fellow three-year-old My Ballyquinn in the 1m6f handicap at York on Saturday.
Oisin Murphy set an even tempo on the son of Lope De Vega, who was stepping up from 1m4f on handicap debut.
Two lengths ahead at the furlong pole, he was headed close home but the front two were clear of older rivals.
Who's Lope can build on this good effort off a mark in the mid-80s; he's bred to improve.
Earlier on the card, Washington Royale made a highly pleasing start when fourth in the 6f novice.
Mick Appleby's classy juvenile was slowly into stride and pushed along in the first furlong. Midfield on the wing, he kept on inside the final furlong and was beaten only four lengths by fancied Sirocco Sands, who had the benefit of two runs. Washington Royale is a quality colt and a half-brother to seven winners.
On Friday, Kilmeaden didn't enjoy a clear run when fifth in the extended 2m handicap at the Curragh. Donnacha O'Brien's tongue-tied four-year-old made headway in midfield and was in touch with the leaders when bumped and switched left two-out.
He rallied inside the final furlong and would have been closer with a clear run.
The dual-purpose son of Galileo won a maiden at the Galway Festival last July and could head back there.
