No wins from nine starts means the naysayers are beginning to circle around Queen Sana but she’s been knocking loudly at the door recently and her latest second over today’s course and distance was arguably her best effort so far.
Another 1lb nudge in the wrong direction means she’ll need to be at least as good if she’s to break her duck, but the daughter of Ardad been found a weak contest and she’s well drawn to attack in stall four.
Danny Tudhope, buoyed by a Group One success in Ireland on Saturday, keeps the ride and there don’t look to be any excuses this time. Hopefully, today is (finally) her day in the sun.
It might be worth forgiving Daisy Roots a poor run on turf last time because she looked in good shape prior to that and, back on a surface she likes and over a trip she’s won over, she looks worth a wager to bounce back and bag a seventh career success.
Daisy Roots was too keen over a mile on her only previous visit to Kempton but there looks enough pace on here to enable her to get into a good rhythm from her low draw and, if things do pan out as she likes, she’s more than capable of overcoming a mark of 68.
There must be a very good chance that the relatively lightly-raced Fox Avatar can leave his run here in May behind given that was his first start since last August. Beaten four and a half lengths in a stronger race than today’s, that outing should have blown away the cobwebs for a Frankel colt that still has the potential to rate higher than his perch of 85.
In a race far from overloaded with pace, his stall five draw should gives him a great platform to bag a prominent early pitch, from which he really should be capable of producing a bold show in this company.
