Might Bite had no more than a schooling session as he erased the memory of a bad Kempton fall with a facile success at Doncaster. Nicky Henderson's eight-year-old had the Grade One Kauto Star Novices' Chase in the bag at Christmas when he took a pearler of a fall at the final fence. Heading into a confidence-boosting return in the Soar Enterprises Online Ltd Novices' Chase against just two rivals, one who was totally outclassed, he just had to jump round for Nico de Boinville to win.The 1-7 favourite beat the only other finisher Gorran Haven by over 99 lengths - yet 32Red pushed him out to 11-2 from 9-2 for the RSA Chase on March 15.Most other firms left him unchanged at around the 5-1 mark for the showpiece meeting, while there was the odd one or two who trimmed him half a point. There were no signs of the market leader having lost his confidence after his bad experience, although those wanting to be hyper-critical might say he jumped the odd fence too big.Henderson, who was not at Doncaster, said: "That was just what we wanted to see him do. It didn't look as if the fall has had a lasting effect, anyway."Without talking to Nico I can't give a detailed description, but his jumping looked good. We've not really learned anything about him, but it was good for his confidence." De Boinville said: "I enjoyed that, it was lovely and we just need him to get his confidence back."I think he is the sort of horse who will be better in a better race. You can be more aggressive on him and his jumping comes to hand the stronger he goes."He's got an awful lot of potential and is going the right way. We just need to keep his jumping low and flat."De Boinville had earlier scored on Ben Pauling's Creep Desbois (3-1), who stuck his neck out gamely to win the sunbets.co.uk Novices' Hurdle."That was a step in the right direction," said Pauling."We ran here to get him qualified for the EBF FInal at Sandown and I think that's where we'll go now."I think the Wetherby race he ran in last time was pretty hot, I knew Mount Mews was a good horse from his bumper days."Aidan Coleman was another jockey to celebrate a double, initiated by Jonjo O'Neill's Beggars Cross (4-1) in the Eventmaster Handicap Chase."He's been a slow learner, but finally appears to be getting the hang of things," said Mick Meagher, owner Trevor Hemmings' racing manager."He jumps and stays, hopefully he'll go on from this."Chelsea Flyer (evens favourite) quickened up nicely to win the Larkshill Engineering EBF "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle.Emma Lavelle felt the better ground was a crucial factor."If any horse deserved to win one, he did," she said. "He got stuck in the ground at Plumpton and scared himself, he was jumping violently left and even was over poles at home."We've gone right back to basics and he's got his confidence back. He's done that nicely."Page Fuller gave Jamie Snowden's Three Ways a positive ride in the three-mile handicap hurdle and held off Abbreviate by a length and a quarter.Snowden indicated that were he to get in, the 4-1 winner would take his chance in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham having finished fourth in a qualifier at Wincanton.
