3.22 Musselburgh: Admiralty House
Like most of Sandy Thomson’s team, it took
Admiralty House a few runs to hit form this season, but he strongly suggested he might be heading back to the form he showed for Alan King when a good second at Kelso last time out.
Conditions were heavy there, which is not ideal for the seven-year-old who often pulls quite hard, and good to soft ground should suit him better.
He was placed off a mark 7lb higher than the one he's on now last season, and if he can confirm he is back to form, he should go close in a race set to be run to suit.
3.55 Musselburgh: The G Wizard
This six-year-old hasn't won yet, and his latest run was disappointing, but I believe that was due to a change to hold-up tactics.
The G Wizard still ran OK, but nowhere near as well as his previous two efforts, which both came over this course and distance.
I doubt he will be held up again here, and even though he is 3lb higher than his latest good effort, he looks to have a solid chance.
Nick Alexander had a couple of winners before Cheltenham, so the yard is in decent enough form, too.
4.30 Musselburgh: Follow Charlie
Follow Charlie is pretty consistent, and often stays on into a place in similar contests to this. He might well do the same here.
Surprisingly, his handler has never run him at Musselburgh, but I think the track could suit him well. Three miles is Follow Charlie's trip and, despite running well on many occasions, he has dropped down to a rating only a pound above his last winning mark.
This contest is set be run at a strong pace, with several forward-goers in the field, and Ben Smith, who claims a valuable 7lb, is back on board. The selection might be the each-way value in this, and is available at 20-1, at the time of writing.
