Our top pundit and presenter Martin Dixon has three best bets for Saturday, with double-figure selections at Haydock and York - catch both meetings live on Racing TV.
1.13 Haydock - Naqeeb (E/W)
A previous course winner at Haydock, Naqeeb shaped encouragingly on stable debut for Julie Camacho at York this month, taking a keen grip but making good progress before flattening out, and seeing him in the paddock that day I fully expect he'll be much fitter for the run.
He stays well and handles ease in the ground so this strongly-run mile and a half should be ideal, and at double-figure odds, with several firms paying five places, he makes plenty of appeal each-way.
1.30 York - Byzantime Empress (E/W)
Longtime readers of this column may remember Byzantine Empress doing us a favour at Haydock last year and I'm hoping this consistent filly has the right setup again.
Drawn in stall nine, she's right in behind a lot of the pace horses in this big-field sprint and she's such a strong traveller that I think getting in behind a fast gallop over 6f could be in her favour. She'll need some luck but should be finishing off well.
2.23 Haydock - Balmoral Lady (E/W)
This looks an open listed sprint and at odds as big as 12/1 at the time of writing, Balmoral Lady looks overpriced to me after a fine comeback run from a bad draw at Chester's May meeting.
She had to be taken back in that race and had too much ground to make up but thundered home to get third to suggest she can continue the improvement shown in the second half of last year.
