Martin Dixon shares his best bets for the meetings at Doncaster and Newbury on Saturday, as well as at Cheltenham, where he likes the look of a 14-1 chance, live on Racing TV. Martin's selections are first provided to subscribers to the Inside Angle newsletter on Friday afternoon - any odds mentioned were correct at that time.
1.30 Doncaster: Trilby (NAP)
Best odds: 6-1
A fast pace and soft ground seems to be the ideal combination for Trilby and he should get exactly that here with the likes of Lexington Blitz and Smart Vision expected to tear off in front.
He lost his form a bit mid-summer, meaning his mark has actually slipped back lower than when winning at Beverley in the spring, but he looked back on song when second to a progressive rival at Haydock last time and the set-up of this race looks perfect.
2.00 Newbury: Senorita Vega
Best odds: 15-8
It's an obvious case to make for Senorita Vega in this Listed fillies' contest given the high standard that she sets, but I expected her to be shorter than the 15-8 that's available given her recent progress and proven form at this track with ease in the ground.
She bolted up in a nursery here in September and then improved again to finish an excellent third in what I thought looked a strong renewal of the Oh So Sharp Stakes a couple of weeks ago.
Her experience and toughness can only be an asset on what will be pretty tough conditions here, and I expect a repeat of either of her last two performances will be good enough to win this.
2.20 Cheltenham - Three Card Brag
Best odds: 14-1 (Each-way)
A high percentage of the field in this 18-runner handicap are returning from layoffs and plenty will surely need the run to put them cherry ripe, so I like the fact that the experienced Three Card Brag comes into this with an excellent recent run under his belt.
I'd argue that second in the Kerry National last month was a career-best effort and it's already been franked by the third, French Dynamite, coming out to win the Munster National easily last week.
He's an assured jumper nowadays and, at double-figure prices, he makes plenty of appeal each-way, with some bookmakers offering five places.
