Martin Dixon's best bets for Saturday: "I like his chances at 20-1"

Top Racing TV pundit Martin Dixon has two each-way picks plus a nap of the day as he reveals his best bets for the action at Newmarket and Haydock on Saturday, live on Racing TV.

1.35 Haydock: Looka (each-way)

I was impressed by the way Looka set a good tempo, and maintained it, when winning at Salisbury on his most recent start, just over three weeks ago. A 3lb rise for that win looks very fair, and he is still a lightly-raced horse who is fresh for the time of year, plus is unexposed on slow ground.

Both of his wins have come from the front, and it looks like he could get an easy lead in this contest, so I'll be backing him each-way at a best price of 9-1 (at the time of writing).

3.40 Newmarket: Hard Endeavor (each-way)

With the likes of Salam Dubawi, Altareq and Spanish Voice all drawn low, I'm going to take a chance that the far side of the draw is the place to be in this year's bet365 Cambridgeshire.

Drawn in stall eight, Hard Endeavor will hopefully be able to follow through on the back of some of those pace horses, and I like his chance at the 20-1 available, at the time of writing.

He ran exceptionally well when beaten half a length by Indalo at Sandown in July, which shows he can compete in these high-end handicaps and, coming back off a two-month layoff at Ascot just over three weeks ago, I got the impression the run would bring him forward for a tilt at this race.

He is still lightly-raced and has experience of the track, having run well on his debut on the Rowley Mile, so I'm backing him each-way at a decent price.

4.00 Haydock: Mister Whippy (nap)

A host of winners have come out of the race in which Mister Whippy was runner-up at Newbury in August.

That was a particularly good effort, and it makes his opening handicap mark of 82 look very workable. On his most recent outing, over a mile on soft ground at Goodwood, he ended up a little too far out of his ground, and didn't quite last home over that longer trip.

Coming back in trip should be a positive, and with his opening mark looking very fair, he remains open to plenty of improvement.
