1.50 Doncaster: James's Delight
The likes of Diligent Harry, Fast Track Harry and Kingdom Come have all made winning reappearances for Clive Cox in recent weeks to underline that the stable have their team well forward, and a top price of 8-1 about James's Delight makes appeal to me in this year's William Hill Price Boosts Every Day Cammidge Trophy Stakes.
It's an open race, admittedly, but he's a contender who thrives in soft conditions, and with the ground already good to soft on Town Moor, and an unsettled forecast ahead, I'm hopeful conditions will be perfect.
James's Delight was sent off the 3-1 favourite for this race last year, and was sticking to his task when the errant Iberian wiped him out at a crucial stage.
He showed a cracking attitude to win the Greenlands Stakes (Group Two) later that Spring, and I can easily forgive his final two starts in Group One company because the ground was too fast for him.
2.08 Kempton: Anniversary
At a best-priced 7-2, at the time of writing, I'm keen to give
Anniversary a chance because, quite simply, I think he's comfortably the best handicapped contender in this field.
The sticking point is that he may be a bit of a monkey, and he has been beaten at short prices a few times now, but I'd still expect him to go off shorter than the current price. If everything clicks together, I could see him winning impressively.
Go back to his debut in 2024, he beat last year's St Leger winner Scandinavia, and then later that year he was second to the thrown-in Many Men in a Nursery, so there's no doubt in my mind he could be very well handicapped.
Blinkers are refitted, Jack Dace takes a further 5lb off, and I expect this will be run a stronger gallop than when he was an eye-catching fifth at Lingfield last time.
This is a bit of a last-chance saloon, given he's in danger of becoming expensive to follow but, given the set-up looks spot on, I'm happy to take the chance.
2.25 Doncaster: Principality (e/w)
Another trainer in good form, including with recent reappearance winners, is Harry Eustace, and although
Principality is a little quirky, I'm keen to have a small each-way bet on him in the William Hill Epic Boosts Spring Mile Handicap.
There are loads with chances, as you'd expect, but as one of the 4yo's in this field, I think he remains open to improvement plus there were a few times last year he wasn't seen to best effect, including in some hot races.
On his penultimate outing in 2025, Principality was stuck wide from a poor draw at Goodwood and shaped really well to finish a never-nearer fourth. On his final start of the season, he beat the four rivals he raced with down the middle at Newmarket, but had no chance with those that beat him on the stands' side.
He handles slow ground and a strongly-run race, which looks on the cards, will suit because he can sometimes miss the kick.
