1.30 Epsom: Golden Mind (each-way)
Golden Mind has plenty to find on official ratings, and no doubt needs a career-best performance to reach the frame here, but I think back at Epsom, on ground with some ease in it, there's a strong chance he does produce that.
He ran exceptionally well at this meeting under a big weight in handicap company last year, so clearly handles the idiosyncrasies well, and he comes into this race in top form having run blinders in competitive handicaps on his past two starts.
Never So Brave will be hard to beat if producing his best, but might be a shade better on faster ground, and was well below form on last month's return, while Alcantor and Ten Bob Tony also need to bounce back from lesser efforts.
With eight runners, there's an ideal each-way shape to this, and at 16-1, I'm happy to back Golden Mind.
2.05 Epsom: Arisaig
She's on a long losing run, admittedly, but Arisaig is a very smart filly, and in face of some tough tasks over the past 12 months has been generally consistent.
She has to turn recent form around with Shes Perfect from Goodwood, and that rival trades as favourite here, but Arisaig was too far out of her ground that day, and finished with more running in the tank.
Her record on downhill tracks is good, highlighted by an excellent third in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood last season, and I expect the strongly-run race that's on the cards over this extended mile will really play into her hands.
2.50 Musselburgh: Black Storm
Katie Scott had a day to remember at Epsom on Friday with Naana's Shadow winning, and there have been others from the stable running well recently to suggest they're hitting top form generally.
Black Storm isn't thrown in, but he's a consistent handicapper with good course form at Musselburgh, and he has edged down slightly in the weights, which could make a difference.
I also don't think there's much pace on here and, if ridden positively like he was at Carlisle last time out, he could benefit from an uncontested lead on this occasion at a track where front runners have a good record.
5.20 Epsom: Night Breeze (each-way)
A proven ability to handle the track is always high on my radar when considering a bet at Epsom, and Night Breeze rubberstamped his liking for the Downs with a very easy win over C&D in April.
That was only a five-runner race, but it has been franked since (Asguard's Captain won next time out) and I though, given the ease of that win, the handicapper had taken a chance only raising him 4lb.
He has loads of good runs in competitive handicaps on his CV, and will hopefully get a plum position just behind a strong pace under Billy Loughnane.
