Andrea Atzeni has been the man to follow at Doncaster in recent years and he was on the mark again as Speak In Colours continued his progression in the Bet Through The Racing Post App Doncaster Stakes.

The Listed prize attracted some promising types and Marco Botti's youngster was sent off at odds of 6-1 to follow up an Ascot win last time out.

Atzeni made a forceful move over a furlong out and the race was effectively over as he quickened clear and while the 9-2 joint-favourites Mutaaqeb and Staxton closed to within half a length at the line, it was a cosy success for the son of Excelebration.

"He's got lots of speed, he's definitely a sprinter," said Botti.

"The Commonwealth Cup would be the dream and that is obviously it for this season.

"We'll look at starting him back in the Pavilion Stakes at Ascot, a Group Three.

"I was coming here hoping he'd win as he'd been working nicely at home. Andrea said he was just idling at bit at the end."

Paddy Power gave the winner a 25-1 quote for the Commonwealth Cup.
