Classic contender Madhmoon was put through his paces at Naas racecourse on Wednesday, ahead of his probable seasonal reappearance at Leopardstown on Saturday week.
Trainer Kevin Prendergast was pleased with the workout and is eyeing the Ballylinch Stud ‘Red Rocks’ 2000 Guineas Trial at the Dublin venue for the exciting son of Dawn Approach, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.
“He’s in good form. Hopefully we’ll run him on April 6 at Leopardstown and hope the ground won’t be too testing,” said the County Kildare handler.

“He was in Naas this morning. He did a nice piece of work and we were very happy with him.
“He’s done very well over the winter. We didn’t have a bad winter, it was mild with only a day or two of snow, hardly any frost. He couldn’t be going any better.”

Madhmoon won both his starts as a two-year-old over a mile at Leopardstown, the second coming in the Group Two KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes in September.
He holds entries in both English and Irish 2000 Guineas, being as short as 14-1 for the Newmarket showpiece on May 4.
