Legacy Link the chosen Gosden one in Musidora

Fillies’ Mile fourth Legacy Link could enhance John and Thady Gosden’s fine recent record in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes when putting her Oaks credentials to the test at York on Wednesday.
The regally-bred daughter of Dubawi is out of a sister to the imperious Frankel and it would be fitting if she announces herself at the beginning of her three-year-old season at the scene of one of Sir Henry Cecil’s unbeaten champion’s finest hours.
She brings smart juvenile form to the table having built on an encouraging Newmarket debut by winning at Haydock, before running with real credit when pitched in to Group One company at Newmarket at the end of the season.
Legacy Link is a general 25-1 shot for the Oaks in June and with the placed horses in the Fillies’ Mile also filling the podium spots in the 1000 Guineas, the Juddmonte-owned filly is in line to give the Clarehaven team an eighth Musidora since 2011.
“She’s not had a run yet this year, but this looks a natural spot to go with her,” said Thady Gosden.
“The plan was always to enter in this race and she seems very well in herself, she’s done very well from two to three.
“The Fillies’ Mile form got a bit of a boost in the 1000 Guineas and she’s always been a very likeable filly and very smartly bred. Hopefully we can go to York with her.”
Legacy Link is joined among the 10 possibles by unbeaten stablemate Symbol Of Majesty, while Fillies’ Mile fifth Moments Of Joy is the chosen Aidan O’Brien representative.
Others of note include Ed Walker’s impressive Sandown winner Felicitas and Sea The Storm who makes her second outing for William Haggas having placed in Group company for her previous team in Germany as a juvenile.
Also on Knavesmire card is the Group Two Go Local Stores Minster Stakes over six furlongs.
Several Group One winners feature in the 17 contenders, including James Fanshawe’s Kind Of Blue.
“It’s gone much smoother than last year. We kept on getting interruptions in 2025 and we could never really get a clear run at him,” said Fanshawe.
“The aim was to go to York last year and it didn’t happen. But touch wood, this year he’s had a nice clear run, is moving well, has been working well, so I’m very happy with him.”
Another top-level winner due to line up is the Harry Eustace-trained Time For Sandals, a beaten favourite on her return last month.
Eustace just needs to give her the green light following a piece of work this weekend.
He said: “Once she is there, less is more with her. Everything we have seen is very positive. As long as we come through smoothly on Saturday, we are all roads to York next week.”
American Affair is slated to make his return for Jim Goldie, with Big Mojo and Powerful Glory also in the mix.
