Katie Midwinter's Royal Ascot tips: best bets for Friday

In day four's Group Two opener, the Albany Stakes, What A Girl Wants could be overpriced at the early 50-1 available, and may be capable of outrunning her odds for Kevin Philippart De Foy and Rowan Scott.

The Persian Force filly remains a maiden following three starts, but has shaped with promise and emerged with credit from each run. On debut, she finished third to promising colt Star Prospect, when ahead of the favourite, her then stablemate Blixen Force, who had placed in the Brocklesby.

In her subsequent run, she chased home Velozee, who has since run well when catching the eye in the Queen Mary Stakes, in the Listed First Flier Stakes, before being narrowly denied by Your Song at Naas, when reversing form with Star Prospect.

The 90,000gns purchase has shown enough promise against some tough opponents so far to suggest she is better than her price reflects in this contest, and the step up to 6f could suit. What A Girl Wants is out of Listed-placed Invincible Spirit mare Hoodna, who won over this distance, and she could be capable of showing plenty of further improvement.

Wootton Bassett colt Albert Einstein shaped with great promise in two runs last season, including when winning a Curragh Group Three, but his debut campaign was cut short and he spent 307 days absent before returning at the same venue in the spring.

This year, he is yet to win in three starts, disappointing on Listed reappearance before managing only third in the Greenham Stakes to Alparslan, with Zavateri in second. He was dropped back to 6f in his latest start when back at Newbury, but was narrowly denied by Song Of The Clyde when sent off at odds of 6-4 in a Listed race.

Plenty of further improvement is required on his Group One debut, but his performances last season suggested he could be a star in the making and, although that hasn't proven to be the case so far this term, the best could be yet to come from him.

Returning to this mile-and-a-half trip, Omni Man could be capable of a much improved effort having failed to get involved in two starts so far this term. He's back in handicap company from a mark 8lb higher than when winning at Goodwood last summer, but remains open to further improvement in only his 11th start and there could be more to come from him. 

The four-year-old gelding showed ability with plenty of good performances last term, and finished a good fifth in the King George V Stakes at this meeting. He has previous course experience, which should hold him in good stead, and warrants each-way consideration at the 14-1 available for Joseph O'Brien.

Too Darn Hot filly Darn Hot Gallop has shown noteworthy form in four starts to date, unbeaten up until her appearance in the 1,000 Guineas when unable to make an impression at odds of 80-1. That run is worth forgiving and she could resume her good form and progress back in handicap company from an only 3lb higher mark than her latest win. Her current rating of 86 could underestimate her level of ability and she's still unexposed, capable of showing further progression for an in-form James Tate yard.

On debut at Wolverhampton in November, Darn Hot Gallop beat three subsequent winners to make a successful start to her career, before doubling up at Newcastle. She was sent off at odds of 22-1 when winning a competitive 12-runner handicap at Newmarket in April, beating the likes of Blue Courvoisier, who landed a valuable handicap recently and is now rated 92, St Anton, a dual winner since now rated 91, and We're Goosers, a convincing nine-and-a-half-length winner at Chester, currently on a mark of 95.

With plenty of substance to her form, Darn Hot Gallop holds solid each-way claims at 12-1 and could be capable of putting in a bold bid.

Beaten by future Derby winner Christmas Day in a Gowran Park maiden on debut, Causeway is unbeaten in four starts since and claimed Group Three honours at the Curragh when last seen. He has shown a good attitude as well as plenty of ability this season, and remains open to further improvement, still unexposed.

The Wootton Bassett colt is beautifully bred out of Galileo mare Heaven Of Heavens, a sister to the brilliant Magical and three-time Group One-winning Rhododendron, dam of Auguste Rodin. There should be more to come from Causeway, and he could pose a threat to the unexposed favourite in this contest. The step up to a mile-and-a-half should suit and he has shown plenty of grit and determination, as well as class, this season, which bodes well for his chances of continuing his progression at this level.

In Friday's finale, likeable filly Revival Power makes her handicap debut from a mark of 102 and, despite facing a stiff task at the weights, could outrun her odds considering she's a top class performer on her day. She's entitled to come on for her return to action this season, and will be suited by the trip on quick ground as she bids for a fourth career success.

As a juvenile, the daughter of Bungle Inthejungle landed a Group Two success following a Listed win at York, shaping with great promise and showing plenty of potential. She's unexposed and remains open to further improvement, and, with conditions to suit, could make her presence felt.
