Juvenile Watch: tips for the two-year-old races on Thursday and Friday

Our expert on the two-year-old's, Ross Millar, shares his verdict on the juvenile races on days three and four at the Royal meeting.

THURSDAY
2.30 - Chesham Stakes (7f)
Ballydoyle have dominated the juvenile races so far and have another short price favourite here in Aix La Chapelle. But at the prices I'm again tempted to oppose them.
Sea Venture overcame adversity to win on debut at Haydock where she repeatedly found herself short of racing room, she eventually switched to the middle of the track from where she showed a smart turn of foot.
That win came over six-furlongs and given her stout pedigree it would suggest she's above average. The extra furlong and stiff track she encounters here are entirely to her benefit and in receipt of the valuable fillies allowance she can deny Aidan O'Brien an eighth win in this race.
For those looking for one at an each-way price I think Nola Soul is worthy of support. He was keen in the early stages of her Leopardstown debut over this trip but knuckled down well to win drawing away.
The runner-up had prior racecourse experience and the third has won since so the form looks solid. He's from a less fashionable stable and that's added a degree of value to his price.

FRIDAY
2.30 - Albany Stakes (6f)
I was impressed by every facet of Light Of Dawn's debut at Carlisle. She broke smartly and travelled with real professionalism at the rear of a small field. Once angled out she showed an ability to quicken and lengthened all the way to the line under very tender handling.
This eight day gap is certainly on the short side but it's easy to argue that she might well have faced more exertion in a piece of work at home than she did in her race. Her long stride and professional nature will suit this race well and I expect her to go very close.
At a double figure price Topaz can also run well. She made an eye-catching debut when running in well from some way back in her debut at Newmarket.
The winner on that occasion Jolivette was better positioned throughout and I'd be confident of a form reversal as they re-oppose here. Given Jolivette is (at the time of writing) six-points shorter in the betting I can make a good case for their being value in the price of Topaz.
