The Irish Angle: Johnny Ward has three selections on Wednesday
By Johnny Ward
Last Updated: Tue 3 Nov 2026
Our Irish expert offers his three best bets for Wednesday's action, live on Racing TV.
2.05 Wexford: Caprison
A well-named horse, he has found the right race here – for horses as yet to finish better than fifth.
He finished fifth behind a stable ally at Punchestown, looking a work in progress and finishing quite strongly.
These races are usually ripe for a punt or two but there are few obvious ones lurking here.
Gavin Cromwell is in superb form.

3.10 Wexford: The Big Westerner
Wexford was watering, having been waterlogged only last week – that is the climate crisis.
I trust Henry de Bromhead not to risk this powerhouse unless he is happy with conditions. I can't see what beats her.
7.15 Dundalk: One Cool County
Pat Murphy's runners are in good form and connections were delighted with this one's run in Killarney – as they should have been, as he never looked like winning but was only beaten two lengths over what was surely an inadequate mile.
Everything looks in place here and I'd be surprised if he did not like this surface.
