Medicean Man is likely to bid for a glorious swansong in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.Trainer Jeremy Gask had intended to call time on the 11-year-old's career after the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan on Saturday, in which he finished ninth, but he will now remain in training. Medicean Man was beaten just a short head in the Group One King's Stand in 2015 and Gask expects his stable star to bow out following the June 20 event. The Newmarket handler said: "He's not retired just yet. We are planning to go to Royal Ascot for the King's Stand and we expect that will be his last run. That's the plan."It just didn't pan out as we expected at Meydan. We thought he would have a bit more room as he doesn't like being crowded, but it just didn't work out like that."We were pleased enough with him and in a race like that, you are more going there in hope than expectation." Medicean Mankicked off his career at Newbury in May 2009 and has chalked up a total of 77 career starts. He has won 13 times, including a Listed race at Haydock and a handful of handicaps at Meydan.
