This looks an interesting card at Wetherby, with four handicaps at the end which will all probably produce future winners. Keep an eye out as they are well worth watching.
3.30 Wetherby: ENVIOUS EDITOR
He looks capable of winning off his mark of 118.
Envious Editor was a consistent type in amateur events for his previous trainer when he was largely ridden by family members.
He looks to have improved a little for the move to
and has run really well on his last two starts. He was left with too much to do behind the ill-fated Francky De Berlais, who slipped his field, at Market Rasen last time but got to within eight lengths to finish second.
Envious Editor should be approaching peak fitness now, which might just give him the edge in this traditional handicap.
4.30 Wetherby: HURLERONTHEDITCH
He has had three recorded wind operations, but a feature of his form is that he always seems to run well after a break.
Hurlerontheditch is lightly-raced and has clearly been difficult to train over the years though, while he hasn’t won over obstacles so far, he certainly should have on chasing debut last November. He was clear and still going well when he slipped after landing over the last at Warwick, having jumped really well all the way round.
Hopefully he will be in similar form here and he is 8lbs lower in the weights after a couple of disappointing runs since then. Brian Hughes obviously looks a strong booking.
5.03 Wetherby: TZARMIX
Jonjo O’Neill Jr taking over for the first time since Tzarmix joined this yard is the first and most obvious eyecatcher here, while the six-year-old has dropped 9lbs in the weights since he joined the yard.
Tzarmix has caught the eye on more than one occasion and definitely had more to give at
last time out.
The long and punishing straight at Wetherby suits horses that stay on well and, providing his new jockey can keep him in touch with the field, he can go very close to winning this.
