Judging by the strong market move last time, I might have had the right idea about Ballybreeze but we will never know as he got rid of his jockey at the very first fence.
The case for the seven-year-old is based on his impressive win at Chepstow on his chase debut where he jumped very well and came from off the pace to win comfortably. It was backed up by his run, having been upped 10lb in the ratings, at Market Rasen two starts later where he was yet to come off the bit when falling three from home. That is quite a long way out, but most observers seemed to think he was going like the winner there as well.
Ballybreeze needs to start delivering - he also fell when looking sure to win in his point in Ireland - but he is bred to be a chaser and when it all clicks he looks very good. I am sure he can be a star for Samuel Drinkwater and he is very well handicapped, and I am happy to give him a last shot here.

3.00 Sandown:
Collectors ItemCollectors Item looks to be the class act and could be a very useful staying chaser in the making. He looks to have been brought along steadily over fences, having his first run of the season in Listed company at Chepstow over a trip too short for him and then his second over three miles last time out. He ran much better at Exeter despite finishing out of the frame. He has to make up almost 12 lengths on the mare My Silver Lining here, but he now starts out on a chase mark lower than the last one he ran off over hurdles and the cheekpieces go on now, so I am expecting a much more focussed effort this time. Collectors Item is still lightly raced and the six-year-old can build on the form that saw him run a close second at Grade Two level over hurdles last season.
