Horse racing tips for Good Friday: Dave Nevison's best bets

There are some terrific handicaps to get stuck into at Lingfield on this now established Good Friday fixture, and I am hopeful of these three which I will be including in an each-way Trixie. Best of luck!

I would rather back this four-year-old each-way than side with the short-priced favourite Mr Escobar, who could take a big step forward now that he is having his first run for Willie Mullins.

Ehteyat himself is a lightly-raced improver who got caught out by First Emperor when beaten a neck by that rival at Lingfield in January.

George Boughey has not run his charge since and has kept him fresh for this. He’s also 8lb better off with First Emperor who has franked his form since.

I am hopeful waiting for this contest proves to be a smart move and that the selection can gain his revenge.

If he gets beat by the favourite, so be it, but I will be gutted, as well as surprised, if he is out of the four places that most bookies are offering.

The unbeaten Brewing will be another short-priced favourite here, this time trained by William Haggas, but he might be hindered by the draw in stall one, especially for an inexperienced horse.

I am once again happy to go each-way with Irish raider Final Voyage for whom Johnny Murtagh has booked Billy Loughnane.

The five-year-old has been a consistent performer at Dundalk this Winter and may even be improving based upon a very good second last time out under a very inexperienced claimer.

He had to switch at a crucial point in that race and could have finished closer, so the fact that he is running off just a 3lb higher mark might be on the generous side.

The 5lb that Loughnane claims is invaluable, especially in a tight handicap, and means his mount looks well handicapped.

I am hoping this could be a good afternoon for Billy Loughnane as he could be aboard one that has absolutely perfect conditions here.

Walking On Clouds has been fantastically consistent this Winter but has definitely done best when getting a strongly run race, which certainly looks guaranteed on Friday.

The pace is drawn on the inside, which should set him up perfectly to come with a strong late run, and hopefully avoid congestion as the leaders fade.

Walking On Clouds has been doing very well under 3lb claimer Oliver Stammers, but the 5lb Loughnane claims will hopefully be the difference in a really tight handicap.
