This five-year-old seems to have found his form running in big field, six-furlong handicaps after spending most of his time over longer distances, so this Virgin Bet Ayr Bronze Cup might just be the race for him.
He won at Pontefract in July when dropped back down to this trip for the first time in a good while and then went on to run a cracker in a cavalry charge at York on his next start.
He has since run well again at Pontefract off this mark and arrives here in pretty decent form. He should be able to sit just off what is going to be a very fast pace, given his normal running style, and won’t have a problem if any overnight rain gets into the ground.

Has got plenty going for him in this race and has a definite class edge, on his best form.
David O’Meara was one of the first trainers to run top weights under the now not so new rule that allows horses to run in races below their allotted grade. My eye is always drawn to them, and Cosmos Raj arrives here in particularly good form.
He has won plenty of races off marks in the 70’s but dropped down to 69 to score at Ripon in July, and he should have gone very close at Ripon last time out.
Danny Tudhope got blocked on the inside rail at a crucial stage on that occasion, and will no doubt be using the same tactics here from a low draw, just in behind the fast pace which will hopefully tee things up nicely for him this time around, providing he avoid traffic problems!
He certainly looks as though he is back in form and, if so, he could outclass these. He's my bet of the day.
Alpine Sierra might well be able to take up a prominent position here, even from his very wide draw, and if he is able to dictate the pace, he could well defy a big weight.
He has habitual slow starters drawn inside of him, so that should help, and I am pretty sure Joe Fanning will want to be somewhere near the pacesetters.
Jim Goldie’s five-year-old won here in the summer and is already back to the same mark again plus ran well enough at Carlisle last time out to suggest he is in good enough form to beat a host of Ayr regulars.
