Horse racing tips: three for Goodwood

This lightly-raced and expensive purchase looks the obvious choice here for Simon & Ed Crisford now that he has broken his maiden.

The training duo are confident enough to turn Durham Castle out again quickly after he won in good style at Southwell two weeks ago and that suggests the three-year-old is standing his training well. 

A mark of 80 does not seem too harsh for him to start out handicapping from and the booking of William Buick is obviously very eye-catching. 

East India Dock has had an almost unbroken run of progress since he won by a wide margin at Salisbury back in May. 

He went up 12lb in the weights for that win but has continued to improve and rise even further in the handicap without winning again all summer. 

However, the step up to this distance last time saw him come forward again and resulted in just a narrow defeat in a similar handicap here last time. 

Trainer James Fanshawe looks to have found a good spot for his stayer and has booked useful 5lb claimer Joe Leavy to take his weight down to just 7st 11lb in this. 

East India Dock didn’t get the best of runs close home last time and it looks like he is due another win. 

William Buick certainly doesn’t ride too often for the Mark Rimell yard and might well round off a good afternoon here.

Tiger Beetle slipped too far out to know whether he would have challenged last time out at Nottingham but he had returned to form on his previous start at Haydock Park and certainly wasn’t out of things.

The four-year-old has done well with the draw in stall 4 and there looks to be plenty of pace on, which will help matters further. 

He has won off this mark and higher since he joined Rimell and usually runs in a stronger grade than this.
