Horse racing tips: Fire can catch light at Beverley

Trainer Ruth Carr has her team of sprinters generally running well and Digital looks to have a good opportunity to score on what just his fourth start for the yard. 

The six-year-old seems to have run himself into fitness, typically of this stable, and might be poised to score judged on his run last time where he broke well and led until two of the favourites went past him close home. 

Digital is in a lower-grade handicap here - the lowest he has ever raced in - and is off his lowest-ever handicap mark and looks like he could hit top form. 

He has a good draw and with slower starters drawn close by him he should definitely be able to grab the lead on the rails. He should have enough class when he gets challenged late on and I believe he can see off these lesser rivals. 

The nine-year-old may not be so young any more, but even at his ripe old age I still feel Young Fire has enough fire left in his belly to land a modest handicap such as this. 

In fact, this race might well be ideal as a strong pace seems assured and he is well berthed in stall one. 

Young Fire has been dropped another 2lb and down to a mark of 65, a rating way lower than his latest winning mark which came just last August. 

He was trapped out wide on his latest start, but from stall one here he should be able to hold a decent position close to the inside rail and, with decent luck in running, get a passage through this big field. 

He is now rated just 59 and, back on fast going on turf, he has an opportunity to confirm this surface will suit him very well. 

Reel Prospect and his experience of turf is limited to just two starts; he ran really well on his debut at Nottingham on good to firm ground and then ran poorly on his penultimate start at Thirsk on very heavy ground, which clearly didn’t suit. He has run all his other races at Newcastle, breaking his maiden last October but disappointing since then and has come down almost a stone from a mark of 72.

The step back up in trip will hopefully suit him better and he should be able to sit close to the pace from his good draw in 3. Hopefully Danny Tudhope, who has previously won on him, can keep him straight for his finishing effort.
