After Wednesday's 7-2 winner, our pundit and resident website tipster Dave Nevison shares his insight for Thursday's all-weather card from Kempton Park. Enjoy all the action live on Racing TV.
Wincanton has unfortunately fallen, but I was keen on the chances of Le Patron and I want to be on him next time he runs, so don't be surprised if you see him in this column for a similar event if Ascot beats the weather for Saturday!
Hopefully there will be no issues at Kempton and here are two I like.
6.30 Kempton: Rogue Force
He may be worth chancing at a price here now back down to the distance he won over this time last season.
Rogue Force was stepped up to 10 furlongs last time but didn’t stay, though he still ran well enough finishing seventh. He won off a mark of 76 last January and, within four runs, has dropped to 1lb below that rating and that looks on the generous side.
The concern is that trainer Tom Clover has not been in brilliant form but he has had a couple of fancied horses run okay recently in amongst several big-priced outsiders. It is a stretch to say the stable is poised, but it will turn at some point and it usually happens with a big-priced winner.
8.00 Kempton: Daniel Deronda
He ran quite encouragingly on his first Flat run for over a year last time and can go well again from just 1lb higher.
Daniel Deronda certainly looked as though he would be suited by the step up in trip given he was staying on very well and this extra furlong looks the ticket.
There are several similar types here who are infrequent winners, but Amy Murphy is in reasonable form currently and Stefano Cherchi certainly got a response out of Daniel Deronda on the latest run here.
