Our betting expert Dave Nevison has picked out 9/2, 4/1, 9/4 and 7/4 winners this week and shares his best bets for Friday's action. Enjoy every moment from Haydock, Goodwood, Downpatrick, Wexford and Catterick live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.
Where’s Jeff might have a penalty after winning last time, but he is still 10lb below the mark he had previously won off and he will not be the last to benefit from Joanna Mason taking over in the saddle.
Everything was in his favour at Hamilton last week and conditions are pretty similar here. He is actually racing in a lower grade handicap this time and will surely go very close in his attempt to follow up.
If Where’s Jeff has simply regained his mojo - and not just the Mason magic that brought him back to winning form - then he is thrown in. He enjoyed a very productive spell in the summer of 2019 and I believe it is very possible that he can repeat that run this year.
Jill Rose loves Catterick on soft ground and will be completely at home in these conditions after signalling she was ready to pick up the winning thread last time out at Thirsk.
She was backed at big odds for that event and won her race on the wrong side but finished fourth overall. Dropping her a pound for that effort will possibly prove to be generous here.
Jill Rose is drawn in stall 7 but has several slow starters drawn on her inside, so if she wants to tack across she should be able to take any track position required.
While her yard is not among the winners, most of the stable’s runners have been doing well in handicaps so a win is definitely due.
He has only had four previous runs and looks a potentially well-handicapped improver against some very exposed types.
Ehrmann proved himself over course and distance last week on handicap debut when beaten a short head by a well-backed runner who improved for the switch to turf. Conditions are going to be pretty similar again here.
Amy Murphy has been among the winners this week and the excellent Stefano Cherchi has already proven he gets on well with this horse in two good runs on the all-weather.
