on Saturday.
The 13-year-old led the field three out in the big race but was headed two out and then weakened before being pulled up on the run-in.
Celebre D’Allen collapsed whilst being walked in by the veterinary team on the home straight but appeared to be on the road to recovery.
After staying at Aintree on Saturday evening, he was well enough to have a pick of grass on Sunday morning.
But the trainer revealed on X: “We’re heartbroken to share that Celebre D’Allen has passed away. He received the very best treatment by the veterinary teams and was improving.
“However, he deteriorated significantly last night and could not be saved. He was a wonderful horse and we will all miss him greatly.”
