Goodwood tips: Dave Nevison's best three bets for Thursday

The handicaps at Goodwood on Thursday are made up of a Nursery and three races confined to three-year-olds, so they are decidedly tricky affairs.
Hopefully, these three will go well.

1.50 Goodwood: Palace Green

This is a race full of horses with potential and Palace Green is not the only one who comes here after not enjoying the best of runs last time. Hopefully, he can enjoy better luck and resume his progression.
Oisin Murphy has been on Richard Hughes’ colt on all his starts since he unfortunately unseated his jockey on his debut and clearly thinks he is worth sticking with.
I suspect he will have him in a prominent position given the way the track has been riding this week and the fact that he has scored his only win over further.
The handicapper has left Palace Green’s mark unchanged after his unfortunate run at Royal Ascot last time. For my money, he could be rated significantly higher so is worth a bet in this.

4.45 Goodwood: Kendall Roy

I suspect Kate McGivern knew a little about this three-year-old sprinter early in the season as she has a good 5f specialist in the yard in the year older So Majestic.
Kendall Roy was sent over here to win two handicaps in succession back in the spring, when well backed both times, and has continued to improve in leaps and bounds.
His latest success came just last week and he actually beat his stablemate in a non-handicap at Cork looking as though there was still more to come.
His trainer clearly thinks there is plenty more in the tank as she has entered him in the Group One Flying Five and has booked Ryan Moore here, possibly with an eye to that race.

5.55 Goodwood: Bill’s Baar

Adrian Keatley has won a race already at the Galway Festival this week and can land a winner at Goodwood, too, with this ultra consistent three-year-old, who went down by just a nose at York last weekend.
Bill’s Baar would have been ahead in a few more strides and it seems clear he will be very well suited by the return to a mile here.
I expect Hollie Doyle will ride him positively and, provided he is recovered from his exertions from last weekend, I anticipate another strong run in another big-field handicap.
