1.50 Goodwood: Super Superjack
I am reluctant to desert Temporize who did me a huge favour in this race last year when he was a well-supported winner, and he definitely has a great chance once again.
However, I am going to go on a recovery mission on the contender I backed in 2022 who was also well supported, and probably should have won.
This extreme test is quite unique and most of the field will have been laid out for this, to some extent, but I am convinced that Super Superjack will have had this as his number one target for some time.
His two runs this season have both looked like prep races for this contest and he has not been knocked about, but those outings should have put him spot on for this.
Olly Murphy has taken over from Milton Harris who did a good job with this horse to win five staying handicaps as he progressed up the weights, and he was arguably unlucky not to win a few more along the way.
This big field should ensure a decent gallop and Tom Marquand will hopefully be able to steer him through contenders without too many traffic problems.

3.00 Goodwood: Holloway Boy
David O’Meara saddles eight of the 18 runners here but still might not win it as Karl Burke’s Holloway Boy may have too much class for his rivals off top weight.
Since causing a shock to win the Chesham at Royal Ascot on his debut, Holloway Boy hasn’t managed to win another race, but has looked very much as though the switch to handicap company on his past two runs will soon bring about another win.
He returned to Ascot for the Royal Hunt Cup and was unlucky not to finish closer than fifth due to meeting trouble at a crucial stage.
He was narrowly beaten by Cicero’s Gift (a leading contender for the 4.10) in a red-hot handicap at Sandown last time out and it definitely looks as though the pace and tempo of big-field handicaps suits him.
He ran well at this course as a two-year-old and if he gets the breaks, he will go very close.
4.45 Goodwood: Rare Change
Rare Change has already attracted support in this Nursery and might well go off favourite as it does look as though Richard Hughes has prepared him for this.
His first three runs included two at this track where he went off at big prices and didn’t show too much, but the experience will be a plus.
His first run in a handicap came at Haydock last time where he finished very well to be beaten less than half a length into third under Finley Marsh.
Oisin Murphy takes over here and a good run is clearly expected off just a 3lb higher mark.
