Glorious Goodwood day one World Pool preview: a tip for every race on Tuesday

On a strict formline through Down To You Kid, who has been behind Al Hudaiba and UNDISCOVERED this season, the last-named looks overpriced as he bids to give Ralph Beckett a second win in this 1400m (7f) Group Two. He has impressed in two starts on very different ground at Salisbury, and experience of racing at that undulating course could prove invaluable. Blinkers are an interesting addition for the quirky Al Hudaiba who has a penalty for his narrow defeat of Abraham Lincoln (with Pikachu back in third) at HQ, while Haffner – a stablemate of Abraham Lincoln who was behind him on debut – is very much respected. 

A strong renewal of this 1400m (7f) contest. Lake Forest came from a long way back when chasing home WITNESS STAND in last year's renewal, and is respected having looked a bit more straightforward since being gelded, but the value lies with last year's winner. He comes good at this time of year (all four wins between late-June and mid-September), his Epsom form has been seriously franked by the winner, and he should be more of a force here if ridden more prominently than at Chester last time. Qirat, back at the scene of his shock Sussex Stakes win, looks the biggest danger if ridden forcefully as he was when winning at York.  

Should Trawlerman oblige, he would be the oldest winner of this 3200m (16f) race since 10-year-old Persian Punch in 2003, but his Gold Cup conqueror SCANDINAVIA looks the pick of the pair despite being slightly worse off at the weights than when winning by a head at the Royal meeting last month. He has done nothing wrong since the cheekpieces went on last season, his six wins including this race (from stablemate Illinois), and he's fancied to take another step forward. Amiloc looks the pick of the rest with this longer trip likely to be within range at a course he appears to relish running at.  

A fast and furious 1000m (5f) handicap in which a chance is taken on bottom-weight REIGNING PROFIT. He didn't get much luck (and wasn't given a hard time) when only 14th in last year’s renewal won by stablemate Brazen Bolt, but has shown his well-being already this season and still looks to be on a workable handicap mark with blinkers back on for the first time in a while. At the other end of the weights, proven Group performer Jasour is of interest in his first handicap, while last year’s runner-up Adrestia looks well-treated. Run Boy Run was ahead of her last time and is a big player once more, stablemate Twilight Calls has been rejuvenated by the fitting of a visor, while the very speedy Epsom Dash third Lexington Blitz is another to consider. 

Launch Sequence caught the eye in defeat at Doncaster on debut and is respected, but the form doesn't leap off the page, unlike that of the same owner's FINAL OBJECTIVE whose close-up seventh in the Coventry Stakes has since been franked by the runner-up. Quickly gelded having looked a bit of a character, he's fancied to put his best foot forward in this 1200m (6f) maiden and see off Savage Mariner who only found subsequent Royal Ascot winner Libertango too strong on debut. Agrippa, Ard As A Rock and Severn Councils have also shown plenty to work with.

A 1600m (8f) handicap which has typically been dominated by the leading Newmarket yards. Proposal's Windsor fourth has been handsomely franked by the winner, and she remains open to improvement over this trip, but RUMBA NUMBA can resume winning ways. She ran well at this meeting last season, won well at Doncaster on her reappearance, and caught the eye in defeat at Royal Ascot last month. Strong stayer Nanino Niyati should be suited by the demands of this race, while Annastarzy and Crazee Icon are both in rude health and should go well once.  

A much bigger field than the last five renewals, and hard to be confident as a result, but GOLD DIGGER has shaped with plenty of promise for her trainer who does so well in sprint handicaps, and the cheekpieces should help her concentrate more. The same headgear is also tried on handicap debutante Hold A Dream, while Zen Diva continues to make large strides and could rate more of a danger than Machadadorp over this 1200m (6f) distance. Secret History, Rogue Attraction, Paradise Walk and Bintaryana are other progressive fillies enjoying good seasons, so each makes it to what is a rather lengthy shortlist.
